If you’re a fan of past Civ games, you will enjoy this game, but there will be times were a missing level of detail will nag at you. You’ll find yourself surprised and delighted by the additions, but your long-term enjoyment will hinge on your ability to overlook its flaws.

Turn based strategy certainly isn’t a genre that is over represented on the 360 at the moment, and while some won’t see that as much of a loss, those who have been initiated into the mysteries of the turn based strategy fandom know that there are few things more rewarding then thinking up a clever strategy and then crushing your opponents without hesitation or mercy.

The uncomfortably named ‘Commanders: Attack of the Genos’ is the newest entry into the genre, the only other title of note being the ill-fated Battle Bugs (which I personally think was under-rated). Commanders:AotG is an Xbox Live Arcade game that comes in at a reasonable 800 Microsoft Points, which works out to be roughly $13.20 in Kiwi currency.

I spent a little bit of time playing the demo for Arkaian Warriors on Xbox Live last night, and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a fun little Diablo clone, and while the graphics are very ‘last gen’ one must remember that you are getting a full game for a mare $13.20.
It is a really good example of the kind of games you can find on the Xbox Live Arcade. Now although people know about the ports, like Worms, Doom and Bomberman, a lot of good original content is going unnoticed. These games are between $6 and $13, and all offer surprising value (and remember, all arcade games have a demo which you can try for free). Yesterday, I was able to grab a copy of Kane & Lynch, fighting off all urges from comments made by the gaming media of how bad a game this is.

From Eidos entertainment, who brought us the successful Hitman series, brings us Dead Men. The story follows Kane who is broken out en route to somewhere by the help of Lynch who’s actually being helped by the ‘7′, a league of Men who were believed dead by Kane and who are wanting something in return from him.

The action starts quick as you’re helped along on a basic tutorial mission to get you a grasp of how the game feels. The graphics are a clandestine to what was revealed in cut scenes, I personally was unimpressed, a mix of good and mostly bad. Definitely a squad-based game with the game-play equivalent of a udder-less cow.

 The sound calibre of the game was average, what stood out is when you go into a haze like state after taking so many hits, you would hear thoughts of past horrors per-say whilst a team-member is administering you with morphine. Also, the swearing in this game is like watching Jay & Silent bob mixed with pulp fiction. The soundtrack however was decent.

On a plus side, this game supports Co-op, Split-screen mode. Both members must perform their duties and look out for each other. Each member have their own objectives to perform for the success of the job at hand. a “level of stress” can make them have delusional visions and put them into varying physical status’.

Out of the pure hour I spent bashing buttons to execute commands and also being most likely - the first victim to bugs ( I got stuck behind the entry door into the donut shop whilst escaping…)  I couldn’t take to playing this game anymore. Even with its violent nature which is usually an attraction there just seems to be a multitude of decent games out there then this one.

Available on PC - 360 - PS3 You’d be a fool to pay retail price.

SouthPeak has confirmed that work is underway on a patch “coming soon” for both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Two Worlds, addressing more than 50 different bugs and other issues in the game.

The beta of the upcoming update 1.6 has been finished. It was very usefull for getting some uncommon bugs fixed.

Reality Pump is currently doing some last quality checks and will prepare the package for distribution. Please, don’t ask when exactly it’s coming, nobody can say more than this.

We have already a list of all fixes. There are also some new features that will be announced later.

On top of news of the patch, there is also a demo on Xbox Live for folks who want to try out the ‘epic’ RPG. We had pretty mixed views ourself, so if you want to check out our view, take a look after the break.
