Grand Theft Auto IV has recieved a 10/10 rating from IGN with the label “This is the American dream.”. Praise is heaped on the game which will help minimise damage from negative press in recent weeks. Looks like GTA is set to have another legendary chapter added to thier GTA catalogue.
It is quite a result that will push up those pre-orders and release day sales towards epic. Could we be looking at the game of the year already ? We will have to wait and see what other outfits think of the game. I am certainly sold, now just tossing the coin to get for the 360 or PS3.
Here is the summary but check out the full review at IGN.
The story is Oscar quality. The use of the phone as a gaming portal is genius. There’s really nothing more that could be asked for from GTA IV.
………
The cover and targeting system work great. Blind firing with an RPG is a thing of beauty. Everything works in harmony and not a single one of the missions is bad. The most fun I’ve had in years.
………
The dialogue makes the story. Without the excellent writing and the stellar voice acting, the story would fail. And the soundtrack kills — more than 200 songs and almost all are great choices.

IGN and other companies only give GTA4 (and a lot of other games) 10/10 (or 100/100 via Metacritic) because they get paid off. Take-Two Interactive pay gaming networks off to get good ratings to build up hype.
It happens all the time. GameSpot tried doing it with Eidos and Kane & Lynch, and look where that got them. They fired a good and honest reviewer because of it (not confirmed but they have no other justifications and it’s incredibly coincidental that the guy got sacked right after that bad review).
